Jyoti belongs to the senior clan of Rathores of Marwar-Jodhpur. Having spent her childhood near the Mehrangarh Fort, watching her mother cook sumptuous meals using traditional recipes, instilled in her the passion for cooking.

Jyoti is ably supported by Major Durga Das, fondly known as Major, a former officer of the Indian Army’s elite Armoured Corps. He has been associated with the Oberoi Group of Hotels for nearly two decades. A direct descendent of the House Of Bassi, a principality of Mewar-Udaipur, Major is also a keen environmentalist and bird watcher.

Devra has been awarded the Traveller's Choice Award for two consecutive years 2009, 2010 on TripAdvisor and has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence for the years of 2012 and 2013 while also being rated among top 25 properties of India on the TripAdvisor Popularity Index.
