The Destination: Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve
Tadoba National Park is celebrated for its exceptional wildlife sightings, including tigers, sloth bears, leopards, wild dogs, gaur, nilgai, jungle cats, marsh crocodiles, and over 250 species of birds. The reserve spans 1,727 square kilometers and encompasses Protected Forest, Reserve Forest, and other areas. Established as Maharashtra’s oldest and largest national park, Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve is one of India’s 51 Project Tiger reserves. Its name derives from the local deity “Tadoba” or “Taru” and the Andhari River, which enriches the area’s biodiversity with diverse water birds and raptors. The park’s landscapes feature marshlands, lakes, craggy cliffs, and a variety of flora such as teak, bamboo, mahua, and black plum, providing a comprehensive wilderness experience for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts alike.
