Dear Friends,
The year 2019 was the best for Red Coral till date. We are a bit nostalgic for the year gone by and very excited for the upcoming year. Red Coral has seen stellar growth with seven new corals on-boarded from all over the country. The first edition of Red Coral Sales Week and Annual Gala was a resounding success, warmly welcomed by industry colleagues, friends and partners. Our many thanks to them.
The raison d’être of Red Coral is to add value to our partners. Towards this, we are always inventing and reinventing our offerings. We are grateful for their patient support and understanding. Curating new destinations and novel experiences are how we keep the interests of travellers piqued; on this note, we have a short piece on Singinawa Conservation foundation and we are happy to introduce our new corals onboard, Nine Furlongs in Binsar, Uttarakhand, Happiness Estate in Konkan, Maharashtra, Killa Aul Palace and Kila Dalijoda in Odisha. The wisdom and guidance of our travel industry colleagues are invaluable to us. Our heartfelt gratitude to them.
Wish a wonderful and prosperous New Year to one and all!
Namaste!

Singinawa, meaning ‘Protectors of the Sacred Forests’ is a word borrowed from the Himalayan dialects. As the snow-capped austere peaks stand guard protecting the planes of India, so too does Singinawa Conservation Foundation exists for the protection of the continuous jungles of Central India. Focussing on the forests of Kanha and surroundings, SCF has relentlessly worked with forest guards and tribals of the region for holistic development and conservation. The activities of SCF span from sponsoring reconstruction and electrification of tribal schools to restoring the damaged homes of employees sourced from the local community. Rainwater harvesting, the initiative to clean the Banjar river along with spreading the word of ecological awareness to school children and communities at large have had a positive impact on the lives of the people and the forest.

The Estate
Sir Henry Ramsay was enchanted by the siren call of the mountain breeze, bird songs, rustling of plants and the very palpable songs of silence as he stood admiring the majesty of Nanda Devi. A foremost architect of the British Kumaon region, he carved out six estates of virgin forests for his top officials, as he transferred his administrative quarters from Almora to Binsar during the summer months. One of these charming estates, which has passed hands and hearts, binding them together starting with the District Collectors, later to a musicologist who made it her home is Nine Furlongs with centuries of history and stories.
Built during the mid-1800s, the colonial bungalows are inspired and in unison with the evergreen forests around. Unequalled beauty of lush forests of mighty Himalayan Oaks and Rhododendrons coupled with the vistas of the pristine snow-capped peaks as the backdrop, even the quotidian becomes inspired. The two bungalows each deriving their name from the creatures of the wild, Kakarkot and Saulkot have been home to some of the most creative poets, writers and philosophers from the world over.

Three other cottages are built in the same fashion, one of which is dedicated to the kitchen and dining spaces.
